A Mikvah for Our Community
The sacred practice of Tevilah, immersion in a kosher Mikvah, has a treasured place in Jewish spiritual life. Some observe it daily, others before every Shabbos and Yom Tov, and all in preparation for the Yamim Nora’im.
The importance of immersion for men runs deep in our tradition. It goes back to the enactment of Ezra HaSofer and is codified in the Shulchan Aruch’s instruction to immerse before Yom Kippur. The Arizal and the chassidic masters taught it at length, and the Baal Shem Tov said he owed his spiritual attainments to the mikvah.
The need in Fair Lawn is significant. Many hundreds of men in our community could benefit from regular access to a men’s mikvah. This new, dedicated mikvah will give them a proper, welcoming space of their own, close to home.
